PICKING up from where it left off in the second leg, back-to-back-seeking Meralco racked up two wins to quickly claim a quarterfinal berth in the PBA 3x3 Third Conference Leg 3 Monday at Robinsons Magnolia.
With Tonino Gonzaga reunited with Alfred Batino, Joseph Sedurifa and Dexter Maiquez after skipping their leg-winning campaign last week due to injury, the Bolts flexed their muscles in a 20-9 demolition of the Zamboanga Valientes to start their bid in Pool A.
Then with Sedurifa firing 10, the Meralco cagers made it two-in-a-row via a 19-16 verdict over Limitless App en route to a Last-8 spot with a game to spare in the elims. Meralco guns for No. 3 Tuesday morning against NorthPort (0-2) before going into the KO rounds.
Appmasters Jorey Napoles, Nico Salva, Simon Camacho and Alfrancis Tamsi, followed the Bolts into the next phase after finishing with 2-1. They won over NorthPort (0-2), 18-13, and the Valientes (1-2), 21-10, in between the loss to Meralco.
Going 2-0 in Pool C was Second Conference titlist Pioneer Pro Tibay, which showed its intent to contend with victories over Sista Super Sealers, 18-12, and Barangay Ginebra, 16-10.

The Pioneer crew of Robin Rono, Gian Abrigo, Christian Rivera and Reeve Ugsang can complete a sweep Tuesday in their last pool game against Platinum (1-1).
Sista finished the elims with 2-1 after beating the Gin Kings in the final game of Day 1, 18-10.
Meanwhile, Leg 1 victor TNT and Purefoods got off to a winning start in Pools B and D, respectively.
The Tropang Giga eked out a 19-18 verdict over San Miguel Beer while the Titans nipped Master Sardines, 21-15, to get the head start in the quarterfinal race of their respective groups.
