TNT outduels J&T Express to win final leg, dominates First Conference with 3 titles

TNT completed a golden treble in the PBA 3x3 Season 2 First Conference as it annexed the Leg 6 plum via a 21-17 clincher over J&T Express Sunday at Robinsons Place Antipolo.

Samboy de Leon hit a clutch step-back two while Almond Vosotros sank two dagger free throws to lift the Tropang Giga to back-to-back triumphs and a season-best three wins counting their Leg 1 conquest.

Vosotros finished with 12 while de Leon and Lervin Flores dropped four apiece and Ping Exciminiano made one in delivering the coup de grace for pacesetting TNT, which has built a strong momentum heading to next week's First Conference Grand Finals.

"Every leg is crucial sa amin in preparation for the Grand Finals. Thankfully, nakuha namin yung last leg and then ngayon. Hopefully ma-continue namin sa Grand Finals," said Exciminiano.

The Mau Belen-coached Tropang Giga banked P100,000 for their latest feat, which hiked the franchise's overall collection to eight leg wins on top of a conference championship since last year.

Joseph Sedurifa shot eight to lead J&T, which bowed to TNT for the second straight leg finale and settled for P50,000.

The Tropang Giga threatened to blow the Couriers away when they seized a 14-9 spread and maintained a 17-14 cushion at the 1:24 mark.

But Sedurifa knocked down a bucket and a two-pointer to tie it all up and nearly gave J&T the driver's seat if not for his flubbed attempt from deep.

De Leon converted on his long bomb for a 19-17 breathing room. Keith Datu's equalizer attempt missed the mark then Vosotros drew a foul from Robin Rono and coolly made his freebies to seal the deal.

"Mahirap talagang kalaban ang J&T. Composed na team sila. We just kept on playing and we ended up winning," said de Leon.

On its way to the finals, TNT banked on a big two-ball from Vosotros to beat Meralco in the semis, 14-13. The Couriers turned back Cavitex on their end, 21-19.

The Braves outplayed the Bolts in the battle for third, 19-17, for a podium finish and P30,000. (OL)
