Limitless vs. TNT: A budding PBA 3x3 rivalry

A budding rivalry is fast developing between Limitless App and TNT in the PBA 3x3 Lakas Ng Tatlo.

And the high level of competition between the two best teams in the standalone tournament was further highlighted in the last leg 3 finals of the ongoing second conference when the Appmasters rallied back and nipped the Tropang Giga in a dramatic finish, 21-20.

The victory worth P100,000, avenged the loss of Limitless to TNT in the Leg 1 semifinals, which the Tropang Giga went on to win the championship.

It also marked the third time Limitless beat its main rival for a leg crown after winning the fifth and sixth leg titles, respectively during the first conference.

In the maiden grand finals, the Appmasters likewise denied the Tropang Giga a shot at the P750,000 top prize after eliminating them in the semis.

In all, the Appmasters hold a 4-1 record against the Tropang Giga in the playoffs.

Despite having TNT's numbers, Limitless App top man Brandon Rosser has the highest respect for the Tropang Giga, who he referred to as a very, very good team.

"They are our toughest adversary. Every leg we play them, we run into them, whether it's the quarters, semis, or finals. They're really a talented team," said the 6-foot-7 Fil-Am.

In their latest meeting, the Tropang Giga appeared ready to settle their score against the Appmasters as they led 12-7 and 14-9 halfway through the title match.

But Rosser and Jorey Napoles weren't about to let their team down, sparking a late charge by the Appmasters to turn the game around.

Napoles scored four of Limitless' last six points including a crucial free throw off a technical foul called on Samboy De Leon, and the game-winning putback after collaring the offensive board following a missed layup by Rosser.

"We played on our emotions, but we stayed calm and we're able to get the win," said the younger brother of TNT player Matt Ganuelas-Rosser.
