Limitless App outplays TNT, becomes first PBA 3x3 team to repeat as leg champs

LIMITLESS App carved its name in PBA 3x3 history as the first two-leg winner.

Rulers of the preceding fifth leg last week, the Tropang Giga delivered another golden performance capped by the clinching 21-18 win over TnT to annex Leg 6 top honors Tuesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Jorey Napoles fired seven points, making five of them in the last 1:49, to help the Appmasters finish off the Tropang Giga in the leg backed by 1Pacman Party List headed by Deputy Speaker Mikee Romero and seal back-to-back triumphs in the inaugural three-a-side competition. Before Limitless, TnT (Leg 1), Meralco (Leg 2), Sista (Leg 3) and Purefoods (Leg 4) previously tried to go for a double in the new half-court meet.

Napoles and teammates Brandon Rosser, Reymar Caduyac and Marvin Hayes reasserted their mastery over the Tropang Giga, whom they also defeated for the Leg 5 top honors last week.

"We just weren't satisfied after last leg. We knew that we're gonna have to keep improving; that's been our mantra everyday. And we're just happy we're able to do it," said Rosser.

The Willie Wilson-coached Limitless took home P100,000 for their latest leg win while gaining momentum heading into the First Conference Grand Finals also backed by 1Pacman slated Dec. 29 also at the Big Dome.

"Now the hard part is can we do it another time in the Grand Finals," said Rosser.

TnT's Almond Vosotros, Lervin Flores, Chris Javier and Martin Gozum settled for the P50,000 runner-up prize.

Platinum rounded out the podium finishers with a 21-13 disposal of San Miguel Beer in the third-place battle, netting P30,000.

TNT and Limitless set themselves up for the leg final rematch and a historic conference twin kill by hurdling their respective semifinal opponents.

The Tropang Giga, gaining from a 7-3 windup sparked by back-to-back two-pointers by Vosotros and Gozum, derailed erstwhile unbeaten Platinum, 19-15, en route to a return trip to the finals.

The Appmasters followed suit via a 19-16 victory over first-time semifinalist SMB.
The Top 10 teams after the six legs will advance to the conference championship with the Top 4 seeded into the quarterfinals outright.

A cool P750,000 awaits the PBA 3x3's first conference champion with P250,000 going to the runner-up and P100,000 to the third placers. (OL)
