Ginebra now ahead of the pack

BARANGAY Ginebra vaulted into the top of the team standings of the PBA 3x3 Season 2 Third Conference after becoming the newest member of the winners' club.

The Gin Kings, who scored a franchise breakthrough in Friday's Leg 3, jacked up their tally to 230 tour points overall to wrest the pace at the halfway mark of the season-ending conference.

Moving up three places, the charges of coach Kirk Collier dislodged Leg 2 ruler TNT (210), which slid to No. 2 after settling for fifth place in third-leg action.

Cavitex, following its sixth placing, maintained its hold of third spot with 175 points while Leg 3 third placer Meralco cracked the Top 4 with the same output.

San Miguel Beer, the Leg 1 victors who stumbled to a lowly 11th in Leg 3, fell three spots down to fifth overall with 156, ahead of No. 6 Pioneer Elastoseal (150), which climbed one-up and J&T Express (135), which slipped one down to seventh.

Thanks to its silver finish, Platinum (118) gave its sagging bid a major boost and leapt to eighth from 10th in the previous stop.

Purefoods (95) and Blackwater (76) rounded out the Top 10 despite dropping one slot each.

Terrafirma (70) and NorthPort (44) continued to languish at 11th and 12th, respectively, and will need to make a big move in next week's Leg 4 if they want to crack the Magic 10. (OL)
