ANTIPOLO - Cavitex cleared its path to the quarterfinals of Leg 4 of the PBA 3x3 Third Conference after taking down a pair of biggies in Pool B action Saturday at the Ynares Center.
Still in search of that breakthrough leg win, the Braves kicked off their quest with a 22-17 verdict over Purefoods TJ Titans and made it two-in-a-row with a 21-13 shellacking of San Miguel Beer.
Reuben Saldua starred in the disposal of the one-time leg winner Titans with 10 points while Bong Galanza fired 13 in their upset of two-time leg victor Beermen.
While Cavitex's Galanza, Saldua, Prince Rivero and Dominick Fajardo are safely into the next round, the Titans and the Beermen are left to contest the other quarterfinals berth from their group in their 9:25 a.m. pool matchup Sunday.
Guest teams Pioneer Pro Tibay and Platinum Karaoke hurdled their first two assignments to pace Pools A and C, respectively, while Leg 2 ruler Meralco 3x3 took care of business in its opening encounter to lead three-team Pool D.

Second Conference champ Pioneer leaned on Gian Abrigo's golden two-ball to edge Master Sardines in overtime, 20-18, and followed it up with a 22-13 drubbing of Barangay Ginebra. The Gin Kings ended pool play with 2-1, their two victories coming at the expense of TNT, 21-15, and Master, 18-14. Leg 1 and 3 holder Tropang Giga, 22-12 winner over Master, are at 1-1.
Leg 3 third placer Platinum beat Terrafirma, 21-16, and Zamboanga Valientes, 22-16, for a leading 2-0 card ahead of the Dyip (2-1), who posted victories over Sista (21-15) and the Valientes (21-18).
Meralco (1-0) showed the way in Pool C with its 21-13 beating of NorthPort, 21-13. The Batang Pier, which scored a 20-18 upset of Limitless (0-1), are at 1-1. (OL)
