TNT tightens grip of the lead, Cavitex bumps off J&T Express at no.2 spot

TNT strengthened its grip on top spot in the PBA 3x3 Season 2 Second Conference team standings while Cavitex leapfrogged to second following strong showing in Leg 3.

The Tropang Giga garnered a total of 280 tour points built around triumphs in Legs 1 and 3 sandwiching a runner-up finish in Leg 2 to stay ahead of the 12-team pack at the halfway point of the conference.

After taking the silver behind TNT last Sunday in Novaliches, the Braves moved two places up to No. 2 with 210, dislodging J&T Express (200) and Barangay Ginebra (190), which slipped one spot each from their previous standings.

Platinum Karaoke (170) maintained its fifth position ahead of Terrafirma 3x3 (110), which stayed at No. 6.

Bouncing back from early elimination in the first two legs with a third place finish in Leg 3, Meralco 3x3 vaulted to seventh overall with 108 after languishing at 11th the previous week.

NorthPort (68) climbed to 11th from the cellar as Blackwater (58) fell out of the Top 10 to 12th after Leg 3.

The PBA 3x3 clubs resume their battle for leg honors and tour points this weekend at Robinsons Malabon for Leg 4. The goal is to pile up points after the six legs to make it to the 10-team field of the Second Conference Grand Finals. There's also an added incentives to a shoot for as the Top 4 teams will earn outright entry into the quarterfinal round of the conference championship. (OL)
