Fajardo shines as Cavitex tops Leg 4

WITH Dominick Fajardo as spark plug, the Cavitex Braves wheeled back to the top in Leg 4 of the PBA 3x3 Season 2 Third Conference Sunday at Robinsons Novaliches.

Fajardo turned in a dominant performance of 11 points on a near-perfect 8-of-9 clip to go with five rebounds, two assists and one block to power the Braves to a 19-15 clincher over Pioneer Elastoseal in an exciting finale.

Jorey Napoles complemented Fajardo with four markers and eight boards while Tzaddy Rangel and Bong Galanza shot two apiece to seal it for Cavitex, which finally struck gold after placing third, fourth and sixth in the first three legs.

The Kyles Lao-coached Braves picked up their first triumph since ruling the sixth stop of the Second Conference and jacked up their collection to four leg victories overall.

"Pababa ang naging placing namin this conference so sabi ko sa teammates ko, laruin lang natin, makukuha din natin. Eto, nakuha naman namin," said Napoles.

Fajardo went on a scoring barrage to give Cavitex the early upperhand, 14-11. Galanza and Napoles gave Fajardo a helping hand in the final push to secure the P100,000 winner's purse.

"Sinunod lang namin yung game plan nila coach at yung teammates ko binigay sa akin yung bola," said Fajardo, deflecting the credit to his crew after his scintillating show.
Pioneer's Reggie Morido (six points), Dennice Villamor (four), Ken Mocon (three) and Gian Abrigo (two) settled for second place worth P50,000.

Cavitex and Pioneer set a title duel after disposing of their respective semifinal opponents, Platinum Karaoke (22-12) and Leg 2 winner TnT (22-20 in overtime).

The Tropang Giga salvaged third place and P30,000 at the expense of Platinum, 20-18.

Cavitex was the fourth different leg winner in the season-ending conference after San Miguel in Leg 1, TnT in Leg 2 and Barangay Ginebra in Leg 3. (OL)
