Dyip offer campaign, possible prize money for Roider

TERRAFIRMA is hoping to make it all the way to the championship of the PBA 3x3 Lakas Ng Tatlo Leg 3 as the entire Dyip team agreed to donate the prize money it will win to help defray the hospital expenses of injured team captain Roider Cabrera.

The decision was made by the team at the start of its latest campaign Saturday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig, three days after the 30-year-old Cabrera was hospitalized for collapsing after the Dyip's game against Barangay Ginebra the previous leg.

Winner of each leg receives P100,000, runner up P50,000, and third placer P30,000.

The quartet of Dhon Reverente, Matt Salem, Jed Bulawan, and Terrence Tumalip are so far playing inspired game for the franchise, which is currently on a roll to seize the top spot in Pool A and a place in Sunday's knockout stage.

Terrafirma opened its bid by stunning Leg 2 champion Meralco Bolts, 22-18, then followed it up with a 17-14 victory over Pioneer Pro Tibay, and 21-11 rout of NorthPort.

The Dyip have consistently made the quarterfinals in the first two legs of the three-a-side tournament, including the last leg when Cabrera suffered the unfortunate incident, by which time the team had just won its first two games against Meralco and Barangay Ginebra.

Terrafirma lost its first game without Cabrera, 18-11, against Limitless Appmasters, but beat out Purefoods TJ Titans in the sudden-death for the last quarterfinals berth, 22-12.

It went on and lost to TNT Tropang Giga in the knockout stage, 21-13. (RG)
