FOURTH-leg conqueror Cavitex stepped on the gas and roared into quarterfinals of Leg 5 of the PBA 3x3 Season 2 Third Conference Saturday at Robinsons Las Pinas.
A week after their conference breakthrough, Cavitex's Bong Galanza, Jorey Napoles, Dominick Fajardo and Tzaddy Rangel stamped their class on Pool A opponents Purefoods, 21-17, and J&T Express, 22-20, to gain a quick entry into Sunday's KO rounds.
The Braves continue their drive for back-to-back in the Last-8 against Pool C No. 2 NorthPort, which advanced for the first time after finishing second with 1-1 behind group topnotcher TNT (2-0).
The Tropang Giga, winner of Leg 3, swept their way to the quarters via emphatic victories over the Batang Pier, 21-9, and Blackwater, 21-13.
NorthPort benefited from its 15-14 verdict over the Red President (0-2) in the early sessions in taking the group's second ticket.

Like Cavitex and TnT, Leg 1 victor San Miguel Beer (Pool B) and Meralco (Pool D) went 2-of-2 in their respective groups to soar to No. 1.
The Beermen blitzed past Pioneer Elastoseal, 21-9, and edged Leg 2 ruler Barangay Ginebra, 21-18 while the Bolts brought out the broom against Terrafirma, 15-12, and Platinum Karaoke, 21-19, on their end.
The Gin Kings (1-1) salvaged a quarterfinal slot in Pool B with a 21-14 romp over the Katibays (0-2) as did the Titans (1-1) in Pool A with their 19-15 disposal of J&T (0-2).
Platinum used its earlier 19-15 drubbing of the Dyip (0-2) to progress at 1-1 in Pool D.
Aside from Cavitex-NorthPort, the other Final pairings set for Sunday feature Meralco versus Ginebra, SMB versus Platinum, and TnT vs Purefoods. (OL)
